Interesting use of OCR

Interesting use of OCR software to gather trading data directly from the game client.

no solution here but good point

This paper answers that it is possible to collect economic data from a virtual world and the data can be sufficient for analysis. Besides, the author pointed out that some interesting economic phenomenon such as the:

In-game & out- game market;
Economic shocks like supply shocks: eg. A supply shortage;
Market predictability and the seasonality;
The role of developer control the price (price floors and ceilings).

Though the author did not get the detail studies regarding these aspects or provide clear research results to solve the problems, they are pretty worthy of further exploration in the virtual economies.
